The program, called "Kitchens Without Borders" spotlights the human stories of immigrant and refugee business owners who partner with at DoorDash. According to the website, "Kitchens Without Borders spotlights the human stories of immigrant and refugee business owners, fostering deeper connections to the people making the food we enjoy every day." Twenty-nine percent of businesses in the combined restaurant/hotel sector are immigrant-owned."

The initial group of 10 restaurants, based in the San Francisco Bay Area, were chosen from 60 applicants. The 10 restaurants taking part in this initiative will receive numerous promotions on the DoorDash website, including marketing support and the ability to offer $0 delivery fees to customers for up to six weeks. The program will be expanding to include other restaurants across the country in the coming months.
